How Does a HERS Rating Work?

A certified Home Energy Rater assesses the energy efficiency of a home, assigning it a relative performance score. A Score of 100 is equal to the standard model provided by the US department of Energy. The lower the score the more energy efficient the home. A score of Zero is known as a Net Zero home, that the home produces as much energy as it consumes.
